This pours a light amber with a lasting but modest head. Light lace. Clear.
Only a hint of maple syrup (l'erable) in the smell. Mostly dark crystal malt and a touch of chocolate in the aroma.
The taste is like the smell except there is now a generous amount of hop in swallow and aftertaste. Very complex and well-balanced, neither sweet nor dry, hoppy nor malty. The body is as expected.
A superb, unusual beer that is subtle in every way.
