This beer should not have the words 'double IPA' on the label. Its a total misnomer.
It sure did look good after the pour, but the head vanished before I could appreciate it. Zero lace.
The smell was enticing, with notes of caramel and spice. But is one not supposed to be able to smell the hops?...
The taste is where everything fell apart for me. Very malty with absolutely no bitterness to balance it out. Much too sweet for my liking. Perhaps others might enjoy that though.
It feels like syrup dripping down your throat. Five minutes into my beer and the carbonation is already gone.
Overall, this beer does not live up to the name they've chosen for it and I'm left wanting to open another even before this is finished just so I can get my fill of hops.

Purchased at "Le Paradis de la Biere"--so I can't be sure this isn't an old bottle (bad reputation)
Two finger head with retention. Medium lacing. Cloudy amber colour.
Interesting smell: Sourdough Bread?
Sour taste with a spicy finish. Not much by way of hops, doesn't feel like a double. Medium carbonation. Alcohol taste doesn't overwhelm. Bitter on the finish.
An interesting pour, but I wouldn't pick one up again.

Nice orange amber color. Head does not last long. The aroma is enticing -very bready and a little spicy - maybe like a seeded rye bread.
The taste continues the trend as the emphasis is on bready malts - quite tasty, but the hops are a bit subdued for the style. All in all a very tasy beer, but not quite so hoppy as I would expect for an IPA, never mind a double IPA.

Fluffy white head on light grapefruit body. Very mild hop aroma. Creamy mouthfeel, from malt and I think yeast, seasony spicy with a little pepper. Pleasant bitterness. More like a 1.5 IPA. Good drinkability, better with food. Alcohol hidden by taste.

An autumn beer purchased in Quebec City in July. I hope it was just released, otherwise I am drinking an OLD DIPA.
Pours a rich reddish brown with a thick head that leaves little lacing when descended. Aroma is very thick with malt, caramel and toffee, along with alcoholic notes. No hops? I hope for the sake of the brewery this is an old bottle.
The taste? There is a bit of black pepper in along with a thick caramel body that has little bitterness balancing it. If this were a barley wine, it would likely rate better.
Mouthfeel is too syrupy with nothing really to cut it, and it is a tough beer to sip on a warm day...

A- I see some bits of hop floating about. I like it - I've only seen this in my homebrew. The bits off hops want to fall but are sometimes pushed back up by the few bubbles rising in the burnt umber liquid - Very cool. Head is okay but melts away quickly. I was expecting lots of it so I'm kind of bummed out. Lacing is less than ok. Another bummer.
S-Sniff of the opened bottle smells like a great fruit salad and strawberry jam.
In glass, strawberry jam. Sweet hops. Caramel. Smells good but a lot less powerful than I thought.
T- Can't wait to taste this... Disappointing. I don't know about their cold hopping... the hop flavour is one of the dullest ones I've tasted in a Double IPA and they don't taste particularly fresh. Candied onion ( I swear that's what i taste). Wooden popsickle stick. I then let it warm up to see if I get anything different, and nothing more. Only malt/caramel flavour got a little stronger. Alcohol is present but melds very nicely with the rest making it pretty sneaky.
M- Full bodied. Low carbonation.
D- I guess it drinks well but I think I'm just thirsty. With the odd tastes and lack of freshness I'm pretty sure I'd switch beers right away.
Very disappointed. Such a nice-looking bottle and I had a hop craving. Only reason I'd try this again is if someone assured me this was great and I probably had a bad bottle. But... love the fragments of hop leaves in the brew. Really cool.

Bottle: poured a bright medium burgundy color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of floral hops with light citrus notes and good caramel malt backbone. Taste is a nice enough mix between some caramel malt with notes of floral hops with light citrus finish with timid bitterness. Body is about average with good carbonation and no signs of the alcohol. No bad but I would have like this better with more hops presence.
