Mayflower Pilsner is a single malt, single hop lager using Weyermann floor malted pilsner and Mandarinia hops. This clean and crisp lager cold conditioned for weeks resulting in a very smooth brew.

On tap at Beitish Beer Company in walpole.

Sports a washed out straw/hay color with one finger of sudsy head.

Was excited to try this beer as i love a good pils and i thought Mayflower's straight-laced traditional takes on approachable styles (usually done well) would work well for a pilsner, but I was dissapointed.

Smell was simple...a little corn, and general graininess. Was hoping to notice some slight citrus notes at least given the mandarina hops but no such luck.

The taste is a let down. Frankly it tastes cheap and no better than a marco lager. Some generic pale malt like flavor with sweet corn notes that turn into bitter finish. Hops don't show much presence... I expect balance but I still expect to be able to detect hop character. Had no desire to finish the glass and frankly it turned me off from beer for the rest of the night.

Clear straw color. A bit spotty lace on the glass.

Clean smelling pale malt and lighter than expected hop.

Light malt with white pepper-like hop bitterness there's a bit of surprising sourness. The aftertaste is dry and bitter. The swallow features just a touch of sweetness. Quite rich body for the style (which I like) and the higher carbonation works well with this beer.
