This Bohemian Pilsner pays tribute to our ancestor Priscilla Mullins. She was one of the few women on board the Mayflower who survived the journey and the harsh first winter. She was later immortalized as the unrequited love of Miles Standish and eventual wife of John Alden in the 1858 poem ‘The Courtship of Miles Standish’ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Pours a two-finger white head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Crystal clear pale yellow color. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Grassy nose, flavor is earthy, slight malt, finishes slightly bitter. $2.95 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
A - Wonderful clarity, gentle carbonation feeds, a snowy cap.
S - Light grains, delicate floral note from the hops.
T - Clean, not to doughy, I like a Pils with that floor malt breadiness. This has a refined quality.
M - Light in body, quickly drys out, wonderfully displayed.
O - A right and fine pils, well executed.
Cheers

On-tap 5/15/2016 at Flynn’s in Mansfield, MA, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a light yellowish gold color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains lager yeast, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of lager yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is good for the style and provides a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.

Crystal clear light golden color. The head is small even with a vigorous pour. It settles to a thin layer of minute bubbles. Leaves a couple of very minor spots on the glass after each sip.
Leans malty for the style. A touch of earth to the nose. The hop is light but noble (flowery). No graininess.
I do get raw grain on the tongue--it's minor but present. The hop is more pronounced and biting. Very highly carbonated, even for a pilsner. The body is neutral, preventing this beer from sneaking into a more macro feel. The finish and aftertaste provide lots of black pepper.

from a bottle to a teku (like a tulip)
look; light golden, slightly cloudy, tiniest slow moving bubbles, tight 1/4" head that leaves quickly, some lacing
smell; biscuit, honey, faintest floral hints and yeast/hay. nice
taste; honey, hint of pepper, kiss of hops, very clean malt, hint of sugar, a little crisper on the finish
feel; nice smooth/crisp balance, light body but enough to feel, carbonation mild to moderate, right amount
overall; very well put together, subtle but tasty enough

Pours a pale straw. Not much in aromatics, which is fine. The flavor is really bland. It's not just the spiciness of Saaz hops that is missing. The malt bill felt really plain, despite knowing that they used Pilsner in the grist, not two row. I can't say I was overly impressed.

Served in a pint glass at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth.
Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a golden straw yellow with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.
Smell: Toasted, biscuity, cracker, slight sweetness, lager yeast, and herbal and grassy hops.
Taste: Nice pilsner malt flavor with that traditional Saaz spiciness, herbal, and grassy notes. Slight chewy and bitterness in the rear.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, light bodied, crisp, refreshing, a little chewy, slight bitterness, and medium carbonation.
Overall: I enjoyed this Bohemian style pilsner a lot. Looking forward to the next glass.
