In The Darkness Bind Them is named to reflect the complexity of flavors present in this 9% Imperial Milk Stout. We bound together cocao, coffee, and lactose in the darkness of this tasty full bodied stout. Using cocao husks in the mash tun, and cocao nibs throughout the process - including two weeks of aging - chocolate flavors are abound. We then blended Speedwell Coffee’s Brazil Roast cold brew into the finished beer to add an enjoyable coffee profile. This beer is all about layers of flavor. Initially, fudge brownies and dark chocolate roll over the pallet followed by gentle coffee notes with hints of almond and cherry, finished with a slight sweetness from lactose (milk sugar).

Treated as an imperial version of this, it was poured into a snifter. From a can.
The appearance held a dark brown pour then had more of a black color in my glass. Modest filmy lace formed around my glass.
The aroma cleaned up on a wonderful blend of sweet coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, then some milk chocolate and milk sugar. Subtle ends of dark toast and a little bit of cocoa butter further underneath.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side with a developing bitter dark chocolatey tone as it warmed. Mellow aftertaste of dark toast, char, earthy sweetness and some dark chocolate.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation yielding to a keen smoothness pushing against the dryness of the char/ashiness. Finishes semi-dry with clean earthy to sweet milk sugary tone.
Overall, I'd say a pretty nicely done English milk sweet stout.

I bought it on account of being a huge fan of the lord of the rings. I was actually quite surprised by how good it was! It was quite dark both visually in the glass, and how it tasted. It’s a little creamy but that to me is a plus, I did pick up on the coffee taste but it didn’t really feel like a beer while drinking it though, and I would totally have drank it regardless of what’s on the can’s label

This was served from a cask.
Very good head considering it came from a cask. The lacing is slippery and temporary. Nearly black color -- no light passes.
Coffee with cream aroma.
This is a sweet stout with more sugar than milk. Served warm with a lower carbonation level, this is a full bodied beer. The finish is overly sweet with coffee coming almost as an afterthought.

16 oz can dated 02/10/20 “My Precious”
Pours an inky black with two fingers of fluffy light brown head that has good retention and leaves behind sporadic lacing. Aroma is very chocolate forward. There is a mix of darker cocoa and milk chocolate notes. I also get light roast coffee in the aroma. Taste is also chocolate forward but plays up the milk chocolate notes. The coffee is a bit more prominent than in the aroma and lets a subtle fruity note. A sweetness and subtle vanilla note are present throughout; both linger along with the light-moderately sweet finish. I’d prefer a little more restraint with the sweetness that’s just my personal preference, it is by no means overwhelming. I initially bought this beer based on the name and the corresponding “My Precious” stamp on the bottom but this is a very tasty enjoyable beer that doesn’t need a gimmick. This is a very enjoyable adjunct milk stout; the cocoa, lactose, and coffee all assert themselves but there is much appreciated restraint. I’m very happy with this purchase given the quality and drinking experience, especially at 12.99 for the 4 pack.
