Canned on 5/11/2020
Poured into a pint glass. Beautiful deep cherrywood color with a fizzy light brown head that fades but shows decent retention
Smells of malt, cinnamon, clove. Good spiciness.
Taste is malt-forward but good spice and floral notes. Pleasant aftertaste of coffee and dark chocolate. Little if any booziness despite checking in at 7.1% ABV.
Balanced mouthfeel. Carbonated but not fizzy.
Strong offering here from Mayflower. I’d put this in the same class as their Porter - very much substance over style and I’d be damned if someone can’t drink it and say it’s a really good beer. This should shine in the Autumn months, but is good enough to be enjoyed year round.
