on cask at NERAX 2009
dark brown, almost opaque. amber tones under the light. bubbly head is light tan in color, fading to minimal wisps. splotches of lace here and there.
aroma lightly roasted malt, prunes and molasses hint, into coffee note with touch of cocoa, then more prunes and dates. trace of grassy hop.
taste: malty roast with touch of caramel and grassy hop, reminiscences of coffee into the finish, with trace of acidity underneath.
light and thin, but smooth, with resins and astringency in the finish. very pleasant, mild carbonation.
if i remember correctly, this cask (and ALL mayflower casks, for that matter, since they were plastic) was physically a PAIN to tap during setup on tuesday, march 17
