Tis the season for raspberry Stouts. Wait a minute, this is a raspberry Robust Porter! It’s a refreshing change of pace to have the adjunct over this slightly lighter base, so I just had to grab this when I saw it. Let’s get into it
Pours a very dark brown with 3 fingers of rocky tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves nice lacing
The nose feels very light, the raspberry is present but there’s a nice gentle roast behind it. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy raspberry, milk chocolate, light roast coffee, dark toast, toffee, light vanilla, and a touch of cherry
It remains delicate and balanced in taste, it’s quite nice. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark bread, milk chocolate, tart raspberry, sweet vanilla, toffee, and light roast coffee. The swallow brings notes of cocoa powder, medium roast coffee, jammy raspberry, tart cherry, dark toast, light molasses, and toffee
A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a bright and balanced beer. Finishes neutral with a nice fruitiness
This one is solid all around. Nothing amazing but very well done for what it is
