Rivertowne Brewing Co. "Suburban Housewife"
12 fl. oz can, production coded but without freshness dating
$2 @ Weis Marjet, Conshohocken, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Hazy golden-amberbody with a pinkish sheen to it. Slightly pinkish rocky white head as well. It appears to have some very good head retention, at least so far. ... ... I had to wait a long time for it to settle but now it's got just a thin surface covering and a thicker collar. The aroma reveals blackberries but I don't find the listed cucumber, nor a lot of malt really. Ahh, the cucumber is found in the flavor though, how weird. The blackberry is there as well, and it's authentic, not overly sweet or like extract in anyway - however, I have to question whether or not it is extract? The label reads "... made with natural blackberry and natural cucumber" rather than "real" so I'm not sure what's what. The malt comes through as well, grainy, and just lightly sweet. There's a touch of bitterness to it but not much, and yet it finishes mainly dry. Blackberry lingers. A decent fruit and vegetable beer... although I question whether it needs the cucumber or not. Impossible to tell though. Refreshing. Light-medium in body and crisp.

"Kolsch style ale fermented with Blackberries and Cucumbers. Crisp Snappy Finish with a pleasant sweetness from the fruit"

Sampled August 22nd

Beer poured a rather dark amber brown with little foam. Smell is mostly blackberries and some bitter malts. Taste is pretty strong on the cucumber really didn't like it too much. Finished the glass but I would not order another. Being my first cucumber ale I really didn't like it.
