Review from notes
"Medium in body, brown in color, this ale is delightfully malty with complex caramel overtones lending to the smoothest finish you will ever experience! Don’t be afraid of the dark and try this deceptive delight!!!"
A - Pours a dark amber brown almost black with a half inch of tan opaque head.
S - Smells of spicy peat, caramel, and toffee.
T - Spot on taste of peat then caramel and finishes with a toffee like sweetness. I detect no hop bitterness in this one and the finish really is as smooth as advertised.
M - Light to medium in body with slight creaminess.
Overall this really was a treat because of the smooth flavors, creamy body, and little noticeable rum flavors (cloying ABV) if it's still around next visit I would have another.

Pours a deep amber to brown in color with an off white head. In the aroma, peet and a small roast. In the taste. a nice bitterness and roast with some peet in there too. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry peet and roast in the aftertaste. A true Scottish ale, loved it!

Rivertowne Pourhouse : Shepards Crook
Pours a dark brown color and an off white head that recedes to a film on the top. Aroma of scotch style peaty malts, brown sugar, and mild floral arrangements. In the taste, nice peaty roasted flavor, nutty, and malt forward. Pleasantly malty, sugary, with tea like hops providing an even balance. Medium bodied feel, smooth and easy to drink. Overall, a nice session ale from Rivertowne.

A: Pours a medium brown color with some light red hues on the side. Provides a small tan foam head that dissipates to a film. There is some spotty lacing.
S: There is an ok amount of malt character, mostly caramel with some milder bready malts.
T: The entire taste is filled with lots of caramel and bready malt but not overly sweet.
M: A nice medium body that finishes smooth and clean.
D: This is a nice Scottish Ale with a low ABV. Easy to enjoy more than one in a sitting.

I tried this at the 1st annual Steel City Pour last night. Very nice beer! It has an excellent copper color and a nice 'burnt' aroma to it. Very good head and nice lacing (as far as I could tell from a smaller sized taster's glass). It has a nice scottish ale feel to it when it goes down and is easy to drink. Like most scottish ales, it's not a quaffing ale. Although I have yet to try a domestic scottish (style) ale that's as good as an import from Scotland, I did like this one quite a bit.
