On-tap at the brewpub. 5.4%abv.

A - Arrives a near pitch black color. Volcanic activity of dark brown bubble head subsides to about 1 inch, with good retention.

S - Smacks you in the face with big coffee roasted bitterness at first. Slightly assertive hop spiciness with a bit of minty menthol. Sweeter chocolate becomes more prevalent as it warms.

T - More coffee roastiness adding a bit of toffee. Assertive hop bitterness of orange peel on the finish. Nice bitter linger. Overall the flavor is nice, but doesnt pack quite the punch as the aroma did.

M - Medium bodied with prickly tongue coating carbonation that occasionally overwhelmed the flavor.

D - Overall, a nice sessionable stout with a hop kick. Just need a little more oomph from the flavor.

A- Opaque black body that pours with 2 finger foamy dark tan head. Head slowly subsides to a bubbly collar and some lacing is left in the glass. Foggy red/brown hues can be seen below the head when held up to the light.

S- My first whiff of this is full of piny hops. Below the hops is a rich scent of dark chocolate malts.

T- Lots of piny hop flavor upfront with a big balance of warm, rich, dark chocolate in the background. Piny hops come through even more for the finish which makes this brew reminiscent of mint chocolate. Piny hop flavor, dark chocolate, and a slight bitterness linger on the palate.

M- Medium-high carbonation assaults the front of the tongue and body is thick and creamy.

D- I am sure glad I brought a growler of this home with me. It is quite delicious. I love the hoppy character of this stout. I hope this becomes a regular brew at Rivertowne.
