Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel Highland Heather Scotch Ale

Came to the table a nice light copper, but with no head and no lacing. It has a nice malty scent, with a bit of smokiness, but it was all very slight. It had a great taste, though, a wonderful scotch style ale with a nice peaty flavor, along with a very distinct bourbon taste. It would have been even better if the bourbon had not quite dominated the flavor (I could not even detect the heather tips because of it) and if the alcohol was not quite so noticable. It goes down fine, an exellent beer to try, especially if you like scotch ales.

This one had a relatively dark brown color, with some hints of red and a bubbly head that resembled soap bubbles. The smell was malty sweet with some floral aromas. As for the taste, it was not overly sweet, but with plenty of malty goodness and a slight trace of vanilla. A little bit warming at the finish, but the alcohol was masterfully hidden. There did not seem to be much carbonation to this one. The mouthfeel was rather slick and went down easy. This is one dangerously drinkable beer for the alcohol content. So good, that I picked up a growler for later. Well done!

First off, I think this might be the longest name ever for a beer. I didn't stretch anything here at all. That is exactly how it is listed on the beer menu.

Pours a murky brown that carries some orange hues around the thinner sides of the glass. Nose is malty. Flavor has a sweet edge and nice malty tones that come together as part of a well rounded profile. Slight tang on the backside. Feel has a minimal carbonation and the liquid is slick and slightly sticky. This is very easy to drink. For some, barrel aging can get tricky. But this was done well and a pleasure to drink.
