Really like the look of this brew, orange tinged and slightly hazy with a receeding offwhite head. Grassy hops and some malt on the nose, nothing toasty like I would expect from an Oktoberfest. Taste is pretty decent, spicy hops to go with some bready/grainy malt. Some lasting malt finish to this brew with maybe the slightest hint of alcohol. A bit lest carbonated than some of the Oktoberfests I've tried with a medium/light feel. Pretty decent if not really like most Oktoberfests I've had. I'd liken this to a German pils.

Rivertowne Pourhouse "Oktoberfest"
12 oz. can, no freshness dating
Notes: Wow, a tasty brew done in the modern "Fest" style with lots of sweet and gently caramelish and toasty Munich malt - and a whopping 6.6% ABV! It's a bit hazy, but I think that can be forgiven, although the head retention could be a bit better. The lacing is quite nice though, leaving solid sheets behind. The aroma is clean, and there's a bit of floral and herbal hop character to it as well. The flavor really delivers the grainy malt nicely without being to rich or sweet, and again, there's a nice edge of floral, spicy, and herbal hoppiness to it. It's firmly bitter, and it dries in the finish fairly quickly as the malt erodes, leaving a bit of spiciness and grass behind. Overall I'd say it's balanced, or at least as balanced as it's intended to be. Nicely done!

Honey-colored body with a thick, sticky, foamy head. Sweet, caramel aroma; toffee. Toffee and light brown sugar flavors; peanut brittle; some hop zestiness, a little spicy, a bit bitter. Medium-heavy body; nice residual sugar presence; chewy; sweet finish with a touch of dryness.
This beer delivers a rich, sweet and warm beer. There seems to be a lot of crystal and caramel malt presence here and it's a pleasure to drink as they impart a deep malt-forward base to things. There's is just enough hop presence which reigns in the sweetness and caramel power. A pleasure to quaff...

Seemingly unique octoberfest. Almost like a wheat beer. Great balance of characteristics.

12 ounce can into dimpled mug, no canning date. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with good strength. A fair bit of yeast fruitiness, but it isn’t overpowering. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Slight earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice oktoberfest style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Nice job here by the local suburban brewer. Not a big marzen fan , but this one does not accentuate the sweetness. Had a Sam Adams Oktoberfest last night, and I would definitely go with this one instead. Out of a can, nice orange pour, carbonation medium , not much on the nose, malty, taste is drier and hoppier than expected, which I prefer. A good job on the style I'd say. Love this place's Rudolph Red, really good stuff, and their IPA Old Wylie is a consistent brew. Good food too, stop by one of their joints if your are in the 'Burgh.
A Salud!
