Served on-tap at the Pourhouse sans orange wedge.
A: The hefeweizen is hazy, a clouded golden brew. Not nearly as much head as I'd expect.
S: The nose has a strong dose of banana and clove, along with a stronger wheat body that seems like an APWA-hefeweizen hybrid.
T: I was in the mood for a good hefeweizen following the drive from Toledo, OH and this one hit the spot. Banana and clove are strong, sweet and yeasty throughout the ale. The wheat is soft initially before turning tart mid-sip. That tartness builds to the finish, increasing in strength. That tart ending is refreshing, a nice end to the beer.
M: The weizen runs from sweet to tart, with the fruity esters especially strong up front. The combination of tartness and esters is smooth.
D: It really hit the spot. A refreshing weizen from Rivertowne.
