Poured at Piper's Pub on cask, this beer was so flavorful. I had a couple pours just to sit smell and sip on it. Went great with the lamb and chestnut Shepard's Pie. Appears a dark ruby tinted brown color with a tan creamy textured head. Served right about at room temp, as the big billowing head dwindled fine even streaks of lacing were left on my imperial pint. Aroma dark roasted malts, hints of chocolate caramel and a mild fruitiness. Flavor simply let the malt shine, it coated my palate and the serving temp and cask conditioning made for an excellent experience. Bready, caramel, hints of chocolate from the dark roasts mild herbal bitterness just balance it out. Fruit highlights a touch of raisin and apple this beer was perfect for the setting and meal. Mouthfeel super creamy low natural carbonation due to excellent cask conditioning. Drinkability was effortless I'm not sure about the alcohol by volume on this one but it seemed to be pretty mild, what a flavorful awesome experience.
