Pours a clean orange-ish color with a small white head. In the aroma, a small, sweet roast. In the taste, a caramel like roast and a note of hops. A hop bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a a small dry caramel malt in the aftertaste. I think it is a neat idea and name, but eh!

Rivertowne : Leap Beer

Brewed with heather.

Pours a light golden color, with a bone white creamy head and little to no lace. Aroma is very floral and sweet, with honey, rose and hibiscus notes. In the taste, straightforward heather ale with plenty of flowery, herbal bitterness, honey like sweetness, biscuity malts and a clean finish. Earthy, sweet, and mildly bitter. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth and crisp. Overall, pretty solid heather ale, a bit odd, but I liked it.

Had this on tap during the happy hour.

"Once every four years we brew a beer to take you on a quantum leap! This medium bodied amber was aged on heather tips and mug-wort; both of which are rumored to deliver spiritual qualities! "

A - A bit darker than expected for "medium bodied" but carbonation is very sticky and excellent.

S - Well I am not sure what heather tips or mug wort smell like but I am getting a very great level of citrus like hops next to some caramel crystal malts.

T - Wow if I didn't know what I was served I could have sworn this was Nugget Nectar. Again not sure what complexity the mug wort or heather tips provides to the taste but the mix of hops to malt is very great. Smooth Pineapple like citrus hops which never become to bitter or cloying clash with sweet bready malts. omg... it's tasty.

M - As expected it drinks with a medium body. Like the sessionable ABV.

Overall this is another great beer and shows that they really can make a really kick ass amber. Recommended.
