I enjoyed this beer the only way it's served: on-tap at the Sarasota Brewing Co. I had a hard time figuring out the style since the Brewing Co. describes it as a cross of a Bock, Scottish Ale and at least one other style I can't remember. Whatever. Beers don't have to conform to a style to be good.

It's dark -- a little light gets through -- without much head. It has a smell of spice and malt. I don't know what spices are in this, but they aren't overpowering. The overall flavor is good and malty with little hop flavor. Just like I'd expect a winter ale to taste, with Rogue as a notable exception. There is an alcohol flavor, which seems a little surprising since it's not that strong. A smooth and glassy mouthfeel round it out.

This winter brew is one to look forward to from the Sarasota Brewing Co.
