On tap at Tyler's in Durham:
Draft arrives a clear brushed golden with a half-finger of creamy off-white foam that leaves thin bands of lacing on the glass.
The smell is nutty-sweet and plenty toasty. Sweet dark-toasted brown bread leaps to mind.
The taste is citrusy and toasty with essences of orange and lemon atop a warm, mellow breadiness. It seems a bit of semisweet caramel is drizzled through the drink.
Silky smooth and delicious with great drinkability.

Pale yellow with a thin head
Smells vaguely like a pilsner
A very mild taste to this. If this is an APA, it's a very weak attempt at one. It earned a 2.5 in the style of macro or perhaps pilsener. Taste is rather underwhelming for me. Bland, pilsnerly hop flavor is the only discernable taste.
Mouthfeel weak for me.
Quite forgettable. Needs more flavor and better mouthfeel.

Whether this was an American Pale Ale or a Belgian pale Ale as I was told it was a tad off for either style. Not a whole lot in the way of hops.
Poured a very pale gold. No head but that was because of a bad pour that I witnessed. However, there was also not a whole lot of carbonation going on either. Nose was more sweet malts than anything else.
If this is an APA, where are the hops? If this is Belgian PA, where are the traditional hops/sugars? Very underwhelming. At first I thought the wrong yeast was used for this malt/hop bill and should have been made into a kolsch instead. It would make a very nice kolsch I think. But as a PA of any sort there is a whole lot missing. It is very drinkable though because there are no strong flavors and with this ABV it would make a nice session beer. I would probably order this beer but as for a representative of any PA style it is a miss.

Waitress set down a pint filled with crystal clear, straw golden ale. Decent carbonation level, but no head (I blame my Beer Goddess, not the beer itself). The aroma lacked any strong presence of hops, but had some pale malts and a touch of citrus.
The flavor didn't knock my socks off, either, but it wasn't too bad. After all, this is a 4.5% Pale Ale we're talking about. Some hops, a bit of crystal malts, honeydew, and a splash of "wet cardboard". Mouthfeel was pleasant, well carbonated with a thin body (nothing too fancy). Aftertaste could be stronger, though. I didn't dislike this beer, it has potential, but I longed for the dry-hopped version that was opened on cask in select bar locations (stupid hop shortage).

Served a light crisp yellow with a thin head that quickly diminishes to a ring. The aroma is some citrus hops and sweet malts with hops lingering in the finish. The beer is very crisp light and refreshing. This one is very enjoyable and would make a great session beer.
