a: standard shaker pint serving, the beer is a deep nut brown in color, featuring a full, thick coating of beige colored head, good retention
s: malty nose with raisin, date, plum, nutshell, light toast, dark caramelized sugars, earthy hop aromas, fruity esters, lots going on here, nice
m: body around medium, satisfyingly weighty, with carbonation around moderate levels
t: a big-flavored dubbel, lots of dark fruits - date and raisin especially, with a great roasty/nutty underside that adds complexity and balances things out, sweet dark sugars, nice estery yeast influence, mildly hopped with a grassy, earthy flavor and mild bittering in the finish
o: was pretty impressed by this one, rich and flavorful, very much enjoyed

On-tap at Flying Saucer served in a tulip glass a nice dark brown that shows nice ruby highlights when held to light and sports a very nice frothy light ran head that lasts and leaves decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is a nice blend of dark malts and dried fruits. The taste is dried fruits up front with dark malts right behind. The beer is medium bodied with mild carbonation. This one is very enjoyable, but the barrel aged version is in fact much better.
