A - Pours a dark brown/black color with a finger of frothy tan head. The head fades slowly down to a thick ring leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is full of roasted sweet malts and chocolate malts. There is also some coffee aromas and some caramel as well.
T - Starts off with some nice roasted and slightly burnt sweet caramel malt with chocolate flavors as well. Through the middle some stronger sweet chocolate and coffee flavors come through. The finish is a mix roasted chocolate and caramel flavors that linger nicely.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and just a touch creamy. The finish has some nice roasted and sweet notes that linger.
D - Very drinkable. The balance of sweet flavors and roasted flavors mixes nicely. The chocolate and coffee flavors are also at nice levels as well.

SPlitting this growler with Stopper.
The beer pours very dark brown with a fluffy tan 3 cm head that fades to a sturdy surface layer slowly.
Aroma is roasted malt and burnt malt too, kinda smoky. A bit of chocolate powder mixed in as well.
First sip reveals an average to lite body with very fine carbonation.
Flavor is sweet brown sugar for an instant and then rolls to roasted malt and again a bit of smoke that lingers for a bit on my palate.
It is an easy drinker with no hint of ABV.
Worth a try when in Albany.

Sampled 06/30/06. Review from notes.
A: Pours a jet black color with a one finger caramel colored head. Good lace. Not your normal porter colordarker. Melikes.
S: Roasted caramel and burnt chocolate aromas hit the nose with a blast. Pretty good smelling.
T/M: Burnt chocolate malt palate with a semi sweet chocolate chip taste ending. Slight sweet licorice in there also. Milky smooth mouthfeel. Very velvety and creamy. Not very dry. Medium body--it was thicker than most of the porters I've had recently.
D: Drinkable porter. One of the better ones that Ive had recently. Almost seemed like a hybrid stout/porter.
