I had this on tap at the brewpub, a freshly tapped barrel. It was light golden colored with a whitish foam (duh I guess). Very balanced aroma, light toast and malty sweetness and a faint hoppy bitterness. I have to say it tasted about as I'd expect an ESB to taste, leaving me wishing I could try it on cask instead of a standard keg. I find that brings so much more out of this style, otherwise it comes across as a beer that could use more hops flavoring (resin, citrus, floral notes) instead of just bittering. Good take on the style.

A - Served a mostly clear copper-red color with a finger of frothy white head. The head had good retention, reducing down to a spotty layer and ring, lacing nicely on the glass.

S - Aroma is full of sweet lightly roasted caramel malts and just a bit of hops. There also a light fruit aroma mixed in.

T - Starts off with some sweet caramel malts and just a touch of hop bitterness blended in. There is also a bit of spice in the background. Through the middle, the malt flavor gets a bit stronger and there is a bit of bread flavor alongside. The finish is a blend of sweet caramel malts and just a touch bitter.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Nice clean finish, very smooth and crisp without being watery.

D - Very drinkable and well balanced. Nice flavors and a nice malt/hop balance. Could have used maybe a bit more flavor, but what was there was really enjoyable.

A: moderate off- white head on top of a straw amber body.

S: fresh crisp hop notes, good malt aroma, fairly tight nose.

T: more malt driven than hop driven. Decent hop bitterness, but not a lot of hop flavor.

M: fairly low carbonation, medium to heavy body. The flavor is only moderately strong, but it lasts for a long time in the aftertaste.

D: better than the triple b for sure. Pretty solid esb, but not as god as Brown's

Draft at the brewpub. Lower alcohol and better than the Triple B. Crystal and Horizon hops used. Clearly a different name posted on the menu. Fruity amber-golden colour with lace on the side. Like a double English IPA. Tasty, fruity bitterness, complex.Fuller mouthfeel, not getting hops in aroma.
