It’s an Ice Cream Sour with a Shikuwasa seltzer front, crisp and refreshing with a lemon tart flavour before a deliciously creamy vanilla rolls over the top and slides down your tongue. Vegan.

From the Boozebud Advent Calendar 2022 day 7. Drunk in July 2023.
L: In the glass, it's a washed-out, light golden-yellow, with a slight haze. There's utterly no head, but lots of large bubbles tumble g up the glass. Lack of head and the washed-out appearance leads to lost points here.
S: The aroma is sour, lemony citrus. There's a citrus note in there that is unlike citrus that we have access to in Australia. I assume it's the Shikuwasa fruit in the beer. I have no idea what Shikuwasa fruit is, but I now know what it smells like!
T: Taste is zesty, tart and citrusy with that Shikuwasa note adding an overtly sour citrus taste to the mix. The aftertaste is long and sour-sweet. It's refreshing, and I'm salivating after each swallow, but it's a taste you either love or you don't. I don't, but people that go for fruited sours most likely would. So I will be neutral in marking the taste because it's likely this is the exact profile the brewer was looking for.
M: Mouthfeel is quite smooth but not as full and slick as I'd have expected from a beer labelled as an icecream sour. Carbonic prickle is low to medium. There's no denying that the tart taste and long sweet finish encourage a quick follow-up mouthful, and this beer has a short life in the glass once it begins to be drunk.
O: As always, I try to be objective when it comes to sour beers. They're not my kettle of soured fruit (get it?) but I suspect this beer comes out exactly as intended and lovers of sour beers would enjoy it.
Cheers!
