Not all roads lead to our brewery and restaurant, but our local Route 1A certainly does! Our namesake Double IPA is sure to be the ale that will “take you away”. The use of bready, biscuity malts serve as the on-ramp to flavor, while the citrusy aromas extracted from Ahtanum, Amarillo and Mandarina hops lend to its heady bouquet. Take the alternate route with Ipswich Route 1A Double IPA.

This is a real DIPA. Too many DIPAs are what I used to be categorized as a WC IPA with an abv of only 7%.

Malty. Advertised as an imperial but labeled as a DIPA

Picked-up a single can at Total Wine in Braintree for about three dollars. Canned-on
date of 9/17/20. I have had a few brews from these guys. This was absolutely horrible.

This one pours a mostly clear light yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like orange and grapefruit rind, with a bit of perfume and floral hops, and a big sweet malt backbone.
There’s hints of a good IPA here, and it’s sort of in the West Coast style. It’s just way too malty, and a little bit boozy. There’s not enough interesting hop character to overcome these flaws.
This is kinda too thick, and not crisp enough. It’s not super drinkable.
This is a bit messy and just too malty for the style.

Deep golden colored body; nice rising carbonation; head is dense, thick and sculpted, very long lasting. Nice light grain malt scent with some spicy, pine-like hop notes. Light sugary malt flavor with excellent hop bitterness; pine sap. Medium body; crisp and sharp on the palate; overall dryness from start to finish.
A very fine and solid double IPA, fairly malty with some medium toasted qualities and sporting a crisp and bracing hop bitterness and flavor. Top notch!

A tremendous accomplishment in a DIPA!
A light, bright, yet complex DIPA.
Hoptastic, that's for sure!
I would totally recommend this, however I don't think it's available any longer. :(
Loved this beer...Not perfect, but damn fine!

Not retired! Enjoying it greatly. It’s a worthy east coast, west coast double ipa. Try it!

On tap at the brewery. Solid West Coast-esque bitter IPA with some punch but not overly strong.

IPSWICH ROUTE 1A DIPA 12/15/17
Bought a fourpack because I have enjoyed Ipswich brews in the past (11 reviewed on BA) and All About Beer magazine listed it as recommended in the September issue, which only arrived a couple of days ago.
Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Tree House stemmed tulip.
a: Clear amber orange with an inch thick white head which receded to thick surface foam and dense lacing,
s: Initially mild citrus leaning to orange, but soon turns more piney.
t: Mainly pine resin with light to moderate hop bite which strengthens quickly. Dry fiish. Slight grassy notes develop later.
m: Lighter side of medium, ok body and considerable carbonation tingle.
o; A refreshing lightweight DIPA with good hop bite. More a west coast than NE style and as such, better in warm weather than now.
