From a crowler can filled at the brewery on June 27, 2018. Sampled on July 7, 2018.
It pours a reddish-copper tone with a lingering off-white foamy head. Some lacing but it dissipates fast.
The aroma is alive with caramel and toffee malts rather than the sweet, pungent barley malts that I normally experience with Barley Wines. No booze to speak of in the aroma. Also an apple or pear fruitiness hidden in the background.
The body is medium or a bit better.
Wow! The booze explodes in the taste and t3ends to take over the other sweet malt characters I expected. Again, not a barley malt sweetness but more of a caramel sweetness. The fruit is a little less forward in the flavor but it is definitely warming and cleansing. A sipper.

Had this on tap in a 13 oz. snifter on 7/5/17. I don't know if it is a revival of one of their barley wines from the past or just a whole new brew. Either way, I thought it was very good. Not something I normally drink but I had two of them!! Like their website states definite hints of raisin and caramel. The high ABV of 10.5% was well hidden, very smooth and balanced. I hope it stays around.
