Thanks for JLindros for sharing this beer during a little cellar cleaning party. Of course a magnum of barleywine comes out. Reviewed from notes.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a cloudy copper hue that had a thin sudsy halo that faded slowly with little legs.
S - Aromas of some mild oxidation, caramel, light vanilla.
T - Taste is fairly oxidized, caramel, light vanilla, loads of cardboard.
M - Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, which is surprising given the ABV.
O - Overall this is kind of what I expected the beer to taste like. Gotta love cellar cleanings...

Huge beast I've had for a while, finally cracked it.
Fizzy bubble head covering, murky reddish orange color.
Nose oxidized, little cardboard, little caramel and toffee, little nutty, mild candy, etc,
Taste brings sweet like candy malt but very dry, mild oxidation and paper, little caramel nutty, sweet candy syrup, mild bitter hop note,

Wow, who brought this 1.5L? Morgan? Awesome! Pours copper with gold edges and lasting off white head. The aroma is almost musty then chewy sweet malts along with plenty of pine hops and a sense of spicy hoppiness. The taste begins with thick sweet malts and a touch of apricot - prune dark fruity esters. It then moves into nearly sticky chewy malts and pine hop bitterness creating a pleasing flavor. Into the finish the sweet malts don't let up and move into the after taste with the aid of a dash of roast, smooth pine hops and a growing sense of booze. This is a smooth even tasting American Barleywine.

Reviewed on 06/04/2009. This was from a 1.5 L bottle sampled at PPRBSG09. This beer pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt and some vegetal notes. Flavor is sweet and malty and bland. Overall, I just didn't like this one much.
