Brown 500ml bottle, the beer is bottle conditioned, so it was poured carefully into my 'Old Speckled Hen' vase shaped pint glass. No sediment appeared to get into the glass.
The beer was best before Oct 2010 and was reviewed and drunk early September 2010.
An almost bright mid-amber coloured body, clear, and clean, on top a thin layer of bubbles, can't call it a head, that soon dispersed into a collar and wispy hint of a covering.
Malty aroma, semi-sweet molasses and some lightly toasted bread mixed with a hint of biscuits.
The taste is malts at first, then the hops kick in and you can taste the blend nicely. Well balanced and easy to drink.
The 4.5%ABV sits well within the beer and although it can be found, it isn't overly obvious in the mouthfeel. The rear label claims it is 'A Strong Bitter with a strong heart' and I wouldn't argue with that.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
