Cask at Brewvival 2011.

Pours a light brown with reddish highlights and a thin ivory head. Tart flavors and aromas of caramel malt, apple cider, and funky yeast with a definite flowery component. It's really hard to put your finger on whats going on in this beer, it's an amazing contrast between floral and bitter, sweet and sour. Light-bodied with moderate carbonation. Very drinkable, I think I consumed my girlfriends portion, sending her back to the line. Sorry, hon! I wish I knew more about this beer, easily one of the most unique I've ever had!

Had while at Brewvival! Served from firkin into a sampler Brewvival imperial pint. A slight reddish-brown with a minimal off-white head. There was no lacing evident throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, spices, sour, and tart. The flavor was of sweet malt, sour, and tart. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this brew was just plain excellent. From the info from the guys at Five Points who was pouring this, it was a saison with wild yeast added. I really love how the wild yeast seemed to work really well with the saison spices in this one and take the brew to a whole new level. A really nice example of the style here. This one on of the top beers that I consumed on the day. A definite must try!

On tap at Capone's...
Appears a rusted toned amber with a small white cap that quickly fades out. Tiny speckles of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of plastic beach ball, herbs, vinegar, caramel, funky tartness. and vanilla.
Taste is of the aromas with an abundance of vinegar and funk outweighing the goodness that this beer could be.

I had this on tap at Capone's - served chilled in a tulip

A - a very murky caramel color with a frothy light cap - clarity is opaque, legs, but no real lace clings bead is average

S - the smell is very unique, like mustard with herbal notes and slight lactic sour edge w/ mild floral and dry herb vegetal aromas

M - A slight tart and sweet edge with a somewhat briny finish, dry and astringent with lactic acidity lasting into the finish

T - The taste is great both herbal and spice elements are present with a mild horseradish tinge and mustard like quality while at times sweet and resinous like edible flowers, the taste has a lactic tartness which if you can appreciate you will enjoy this flavor

D - As I mentioned in the taste to me this is a very good beer with plenty of depth, but not one you might want to sit and quaff ... more of an experience I would liken to Gruit or American sour that if you enjoy you will do so in moderation
