Bottle at my brother's place. Winter spices fall flat on the tongue, sticky coating on the tongue and metallic finish. Not the best of the winter brews.

I grabbed this because the weather forecast was calling for snow. It was a hazy dark golden color almost like honey. The aromas were all that of a spiced winter beer. I got some subtle cinnamon and orange peel off the smell. Then comes the taste... It was very spiced but not very powerful. The spices used tasted of ginger, allspice, cinnamon, clove, and orange peel. The combo came together nicely. I picture this as a nice Christmas time beer. The spices definitely give you that warming feeling while you drink it. I liked this beer. Taste was clean and fresh. I almost wish the spices had come through just a tiny bit more for this style. Overall still a very good beer to have during the colder months or holidays.

Pours a murky orange color with some residual sediment. White head forms and recedes to a ring. The aroma tricks me into thinking pumpkin, with nutmeg, ginger and allspice coming through with a slight vegetable flavor. The taste is spicy and tart, as it warms becoming like a hard cider almost. Light bodied, flat feel but it is carbonated. Overall, this is just a sub par holiday beer. A favorite from this brewery is Harvest From the Hood which is a very nice IPA.

The taste of spice is ok. Has a chemical taste to it. I myself expect holiday ales to have more body and mouth feel. You can session this but it does not have the spice and umph for a holiday ale. It is possible the spice add the chemical taste but it is very off putting and would be better without it.
