Well, had to check the BA summary of a dunkel : *They boast brilliant ruby hues from the large amounts of Munich malts used, and these malts also lend a fuller-bodied beer. The decoction brewing process also lends much depth and richness*
This beer? Nope, while pretty good, fell short. Pour wasnt *dark*, was a clear brown with small tan head. Very little aroma. Taste was some chocolate and not near enough malt. Body was defiantly too thin, but right amount of carbonation.
Yeah, drinkable. Again, was a decent beer, but Im afraid this one was trying to appeal too much for the mass Florida tourist market. No alcohol ummph to it. Bummer.

Sampled at the Boca Raton location, after an Amber/Pale Ale that I neglected to get the name of. Brown/garnet in color, clear. Miniscule head, little retention, no lacing (could be blamed on the pour). Very light aroma, some malt. Flavor was likewise light: malt, maybe a bit of chocolate. Body was light, carbonation was fine. Drinkability wasn't bad - goes down easy, just lighter than preferred.

Tasted on-tap at the BrewZZi Brewpub in Boca Raton, FL on 07/25/06 and 07/26/06.
Clear lighter brown color with a low off-white head. Nice light roasty and light chocolate malt aromas and flavors. Balanced well, not sweet, with no hop character noticeable. Light-medium bodied, clean, and refreshing.
A bit on the light side for the style but very nice - one of their better beers.

Not dark as it is an ale, though some colour in there. Not impressed, though some taste from some chocolate malts. Fizzy. Have an authentic German beer instead. I guess it beats having pop with the food, though their home brewed root beer is superior to this.

Clear brown color, "dark" is an exageration. Not much head, but very bubbly. Some subtle malt smells. Light malty flavors. Maybe just a whisper of some chocolate malt, not sure. Highly carbonated. I know a dunkel doesn't have to rich, creamy and thick, but I still think this is a bit thin on flavors and feel. What flavors were present, faded quickly and left. This one was hard to finish. I can understand how they didn't want to make it too dark, and bitter for the Florida crowd, but I was hoping this one would have some body to it, and it didn't.
