I found this .5 L brown bottle at the Binny's store in Plainfield, IL for just 99¢. No freshness date, but a good price for a half liter bottle.

The beer poured a cloudy straw yellow color with a minuscule white head, no retention, and no lacing. Not a good start.

The smell was interesting. Lemon, sour apples, and banana hit first followed by a whiff of wheat, some hay, and even some spices (mostly clove).

This is one of the worst tasting hefeweizens I have ever tasted. It's totally bland - not enough of anything. Very weak wheat malt base with a little (and I do mean little) citrus flavor, something sour, and that's about it.

Thin and watery mouthfeel with lots of carbonation.

I could barely finish this bottle much less have another. Avoid!

Quite clear golden color for a hefeweizen, white head. Aroma has the typical yeast esters, banana being the most prominent. Taste starts slightly sweet with clean wheat malt and banana. Finish is more balanced but there is also a slight cardboard note. Medium body and carbonation. Not bad but it's really generic and mediocre.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Weizen glass. Reviewed live.

A- Poured a two finger white head with very little retention. Some soapy lacing. Slightly cloudy orange color. Little watery looking for a Hefeweizen.

S- Grass, banana, wheat, cloves, brown sugar, soapy. Light and more muted smell than I am used to for a Hefe.

T- Woofah, this kicks strong with wheat and sugar and peters out way too early. Unbalanced beer, hits your tongue like a brick.

M- Water. Very wet feel because it feels so watered down.

O- Not a fan. Too bad because I love the style.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden straw like color with just a little bit of white head that goes away completely.

Smell: There is a sweetness with some fruity/perfume like notes in there as well. None of the banana and spice you hope for.

Taste: This is a pretty boring beer. Some of the fruity notes from the smell, but quite watery. Nope.

Mouthfeel: Thin body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: Not a drain poor, but nothing good about it either.

Cloudy yellow color with two fingers of head that quickly settled to a thick cap. A little bit of lacing is left on the glass.

Aroma of fruity esters. Not banana, not bubblegum, but strawberry and lemon.

This is one weird hefeweizen. Practically no qualities you expect in the style and this is from a German brewer. Fruity yeast esters mainly with a touch of lemon tartness. Tastes more like a pale ale than a hefeweizen.

Body lacks the chewy mouthfeel of a good hefeweizen. Another disappointment in this beer.

It drank quickly because of the thin body and light flavor. Will not waste by time or money on this beer again.

yeah, the head was a waste, just disappeared.
Looks like a pale hef, kinda sickly cloudy.
The smell is like the looks: thin, jammy like a fruity, heavy red wine, very un hef like.
Theres a taste I can't quite get my finger on...
Finally nailed it!:

STRAWBERRY RHUBARB.

I'd like to see this next to the lambics

Poured into a Franziskaner weisse beer glass. Not looking good.

Pours a chill hazy golden with a tiny spritzy head that disappears quicker than a homie on father's day.

Aroma of unfermented wort, grainy, no banana, no glove.

Flavor is of unfermented wort, sweet, grainy. I'm not event sure this is fermented. No pleasant.

Mouthfeel is medium spritzy.

Not drinkable at all. this one is a drain pour. How the hell can any brewer put this on the market? Do not bother trying.

Bottle from Gourmet Haus Staudt. Copper hued, turbid as per the style, with a small head that settles to a film. The aroma exhibits scents of apple and spice, citrus, banana, and, oddly, a bit of popcorn. Lightly sweet with a banana bread malt character. Taste is good if somewhat unexceptional for the style: citrusy with moderate banana sweetness, light spiciness, plenty of bready malt and a brief, semi-sweet finish. The body is a tad thin for the style, though not bad. A very enjoyable hefe, just not exceptional for the style.

Pours with a straw golden color with no head or lace. Has moderate carbonation.

Smells more like cider than beer.

The taste of yeast and malt. Nothing much going on with the tatse. Overall, the taste is thin and boring.

Again, the mouthfeel is insipid. As for drinkability, I'm glad I bought one bottle.

The aroma has some bananas (but not much), sour malt, coriander, yeast, and lemon. The appearance is hazy tan/gold with a two finger head. The flavor is rather average for the style. It has all the elements from the aroma but they are weak and the sour dominates. The beer turns herbal (with a hint of incense) in the finish. The palate is thin even for a wheat beer. Overall I was expecting more but it's certainly drinkable.

Served in a Hacker-Pshorr Weisse glass at Resi's Bierstube.

Dull gold, yellow orange in the light, muddied up with the yeast. Weak, flaccid head, never got more than 1/4" of foam. Sweet aroma, faint orange, lemon, dusty wheat, and a cidery characteristic.

Flavor was more citrusy, no clove, smooth wheaty body, lower carbonation with a bite on each quaff. A little bit dull, not much in the way of esters or clove. Needed a bit more finesse in the feel, not enough carbonation, and not smooth enough. One and done.

$2.69 for a 500 ml bottle at LaBodega in Riverside, CA; May 2008.

Pours a medium yellow-gold at the bottom of my Schneiderweisse hefe glass, trainsitioning to a darker muddy golden-brown at the upper end before being topped by a decent sized white head. The big bubbles quickly disappear, leaving a decent coating of tiny bubbles covering the beer. My sample has steady, solid, but not extreme, carbonation.

Aroma is as my wife says "it's a beer", but it's more than that. Clove and banana and bubblegum are all there as expected for the style, but generally light and faint, rather than strong and solid.

Flavor is yeasty pizza crust (with flour dust generously added), and a sharper ending that I wouldn't really call hoppy, but it gives it some balance. Lemony notes are there, but quite subdued.

Moderate bodied, and a relatively easy drinker on a warm summer afternoon, this one is decent, and I don't mind drinking it, but there are others I enjoy more.

Bottling code of 24 , scored this at Davidson's

Pours a slightly hazed (clears nicely) & effervescent honey/golden with 2 fingers of eggshell colored head that holds a tight collar on the top my hefe glass. A bit of lacing & minimal head retention

S: Bubblegum, cloves & white pepper

T: Cloves, grainyness, juicyfruit & grassy up front. Crackery notes along with lemony hops as this warms. Finishes with cloves, a touch of dryness, apples, lemony hops & some tartness

MF: Medium bodied, juicy, with low carbonation

Drank very easy, a decent, not great hefe

Yellow greenish color, hazy. White and creamy head. A lot of bubbles.
Banana, at the smell, even if the smell is quite light. Camomile flowers, yeast, breadcrust.
The taste is quite sweet, but not unpleasant, even if after a while it becomes a bit boring. No big defects in this beer, a standard weizen, quite drinkable.
Standard body, sweetish aftertaste.
