Based on the Dark Secret reputation, I was a bit let down by this one. To my tastes, the coffee is overextracted, resulting in some pyrazines that lend a bell pepper character that distracts from the base beer being so lovely.

Tasted in a snifter from draft at Whole Foods Market on March 29, 2019. Look is dark brown with a foamy tan head. Smell is coffee. Taste is coffee and smoke. Feel is oily.

Enjoyed at a bottle share, my favorite beer of the night. Thick, dark, chewy, sweet, tons of barrel - everything I'm looking for in a barrel aged stout. Excellent!

Taste: thick, barrel woody notes, coffee, spicy, tangy black dry malts, syrupy mouth-feel. Mellow barrel aged malty nose. Black and opaque with a dark tan head, very delicate lace.
Full body. Warm alcohol finish meets coffee brewed notes.

Very well executed, supremely thick barrel aged coffee stout. A little sweeter and better than BCBCS, but that may be because this one's mellowed out in the last 6 months since I got it. A++, would drink again. Only thing is, we had this on the same day as Coffee Dinosmores, and I liked that more. Maybe I'm just over barrel aged beers. Haven't had one that truly wowed me in a while.
