A smooth refreshing Belgian witbier with Belgian malts, white wheat & a touch of Saaz hops. We add corriander & curaco to the whirlpool for perfect flavor.

Thanks to sblickem for sending this one! Received 8/24/17, consumed in early November 2017. Poured from the 12 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.
A: Hazy light gold with orange highlights, and good (but not excessive) visible carbonation. Forms a one-finger white head that lasts for a good bit. A nice appearance for style.
S: Blood orangey citrus and pith or rind. Coriander, wheated light malts, and a touch of saison-like mustiness. Some yeast esters – banana, flesh fruit, just a hint of clove. Nice, and while the blood orange is obvious it still allows the Wit characteristics to come through.
T: Blood orange flesh and pith. Wheat malts with just a touch of graininess. Belgian yeast esters – again, banana and a touch of clove. Coriander, mild lemon, and just that hint of barnyard funk again. The spiciness mixes nicely with the fruity esters and moro flavors. Finishes with a dry tartness, and just a mild bitterness from the orange pith.
M: An average body for style. Lots of carbonation sensation, and low alcohol presence.
O: I really enjoyed this one. Blood orange beers have been hit or miss with me, and more on the miss side. Wits are a style that are generally not my favorite, though I certainly enjoy them if I’m in the mood. I don’t know if this beer is that good, or I’m just really in the right mood, but I absolutely loved this beer. Balanced, nuanced, complex, and able to give each ingredient a chance to shine. Really an excellent Wit, and I’d highly recommend this to someone looking. This might not be an absolute fixture in the fridge if it were local, but it would be in frequent rotation. Scoring is a bit difficult - I think the strong Moro / bitter oranges flavor to be out of style. So a bit of a mishmash for to-style and preference in the scores here.

Tap
Pours cloudy lemon golden, white film for a head.
Smells of sourdough bread, banana esters, and coriander.
Tastes of sourdough bread and banana, with some coriander and lemon zest.
Medium body, light tingly carbonation on the tongue.
Decent wheat beer, kind of rough taste though. A little briny aftertaste. Could take it or leave it.

Pours hazy and opaque. Yellow with a thin white head. Smell is spicy with tons of lovely wheat coming through. Flavor is a standard witbier profile - wheat yeast and some spice. Nicely put together. Feel is a bit light but not bad.
