This was called a double version of the Golden Promise English IPA... The waitress told me it was hoppier than the regular version!
Well now I'm glad I didn't waste my time on the regular version!
This is a dark amber colored beer served in a 10 oz goblet. Small off-white head left minimal lacing.
Smells of huge caramel and toffee malt with some bittering hops at the backend.
The flavor is immensely sweet-- like syrupy sweet. Some piney flavors on the finish which is entirely more bitter than flavorful. It's so bitter in fact, that it finishes quite dry.
Body is medium but syrupy.
Overall-- this seems like a beer that needs a tweaking of the hop bill... Perhaps more flavor an aromatic instead if bittering.
