Brown bottle conditioned beer, 500ml, best before 03/2010, drank in 02/2010.
Poured into a vase shaped pint glass (Old Speckled Hen), slowly because of the sediment within the bottle.
Beautiful deep dark ruby red body with a huge tan coloured head, looks a picture. The thick, creamy tasting head stayed throughout the tasting, lovelly.
Malts rule the roost in the smelling stakes, roasted, rich and plentiful.
Smooth tasting, very smooth, deep lush malty feel to the flavours, a slight hop bitterness is in the taste but secondary to the roasted/toasted malts. Pale, Crystal and Black Malts are used in the gist, a blend of unmentioned hops with flaked and roasted barley according to the website. I can see where the taste comes from after reading that!
Very impressed, would love to try this in cask form.
