750ml into a berliner goblet. Immense thank yous are owed to Johan over on the other beer site for surprising me with this obscure Berliner. It pours a perfectly clear straw yellow color with an efforvescent level of carbonation that bubbles to the surface creating a thin finger that is quick to fade.
The nose is a little sulfuric to carbonic with notes of lemon and barnyard characteristics. The grain comes across like straw or hay instead of wheaty and sweet. There is clearly some brett influence here but it doesn't really come out in full force, it is restrained a little.
The flavor is tart with a cracker-like brett inclusion to contrast. Some lemony fruit notes along with mild greek yogurt hint. As it warns up, it gets progressively more lemon flavored and minorly grassy but without getting that tart. There is quite a bit of grain to contrast, maybe just a bit too much focus on wheat and not enough on the lacto/lemony tartness.
This is very light to almost watery in the feel with a lively amount of carbonation. At 2.5% it is effortlessly drinkable and has a nice tartness. Being a berliner weisse actually from Berlin, I wanted to love the hell out of this just on principal alone. But truth be told, there are better ones out there. Drinkabikity is through the roof though. I crushed this 750ml very easily.
