Deep gold pour with excellent clarity; tight white head; solid ring; ok cap retention. Malty nose. Bitter lemon hop taste. Medium light body; moderate minus carbonation. Overall, no disrespect, but this beer tastes like every malt forward, boring IPA I’ve ever had… And yet I bought 3 pints at $4 a pour!

for all the beers i love from montana, there seems to have been a void in good ipa. maybe i am missing them, but this is one of the first ones i have really been super into, at least of the american single ipa persuasion. its hazy and looks wheaty, textured, and bubbly. more yellow than anything else, but with some brassy shine on the edges and an accumulating inch of white head. great nose, juicy floral hops seem fresh as can be, definite dry hop glory going on here. hard to place the specific types, as it has a springly blooming delicate aroma, with light notes of orange on the edges. its the same in the flavor, with maybe a touch more malt oomph than i want in it, and than would be ideal for a big session, but its smooth and long in the feel and flavor, and it really does work. pretty raw though, there is a lot of sediment and yeast leftover in this, maybe some protein too, its very cloudy and feels a little thick for the style, even though its so well carbonated. i like that there is a little oily slickness too though, tons of hops must have gone into it. overall a quality product, better than the majority of the other beers i have had from these guys. tasty for sure, one of the better hoppy montana brews ive had really.

05/21/07- Had via the tap at Angry Hank's in Billings, MT.

Presentation- Via the tap into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Deeper golden pour with a quickly receding 1/2 inch head. Leaves light spots behind.

Smell- Typical IPA nose. A good amount of grapefruit hops, fairly bitter scented with some added toasted caramel malt.

Taste- Pretty much follows the nose, except with a bigger grapefruit rind hop punch with a nice roasted caramel malt flavor playing backup. Lightly bready as well.

Mouthfeel- About the average medium carbonation level with a mild hop aftertaste.

Drinkability- Overall a really nice IPA. Has good flavors and nose. Would recommend if in these neck of the woods.
