this is a big old heady ipa, well warned about the abv and the hop potency. it looks clear in the glass, a medium amber color, with a fading off white head about an inch tall. the smell is like hop oils, not cones. it has the pungent bitterness to it, but other aromas are very subdued. i should be smelling some if this caramel malt, or some booze, but i cant. the flavor is also more sundued than the smell. the oily hop component doesnt come in until the end, and is exactly that. but there seems to be a void in the middle of this one, where some more robust malt would service it well. i was unimpressed with this overall. the mouthfeel was a little filling, the carbonation was a little flat, and it justs didnt have as much flavor is you like to see packed into these. oh well.
