Looking for consistent quality food on Guam is like trying to find honesty among it's politicians...occasionally fleeting, but usually no where to be seen. The Mermaid however seems to be one of the very few restaurants that isn't always out of something and can manage to refill your drink occasionally. (what?! shocking concept...I know). The beer is pretty good. They usually have a great variety of locally brewed beers. Their brewmaster knows what he's doing. On average, maybe a bit heavy on the grapefruit flavored hops (they're ok sometimes, but with EVERYTHING? really?) The Red and porter are tasty. The food is pretty darn good - nice selection, some really great dishes. The service is pretty consistent and they don't get overwhelmed (sort of) when busy. I highly recommend eating here and have a pint, or their sampler if you ever have to come out here to Guam.

Currently offering the only locally brewed beer from this tiny island corner of America known as Guam. A father-son operation. The second of it's kind in Guam since the local laws were changed about 10 years ago.

Atmosphere - Enough room for 60-80ish people comfortably including booths, tables, and a nice large counter. Wooden decor with alcohol and tropical themed decorations. Live music most nights.

Quality / Selection - On the day I went there were just three of their craft brews available. Most days they have 4 or 5 of their rotating beers, plus another 8 US domestics and imports on tap. They also offer about 15-20 bottles. All the beers I tried were passable. Nothing A+ worthy but all enjoyable and reliable. Very nice selection in a small city on a small island.

Service - No complaints. The 4 or 5 waitresses I interacted with were all friendly enough, and when I asked to talk to the brewer they were kind enough to call him over.

Food - Good selection. For some reason a lot of Greek / Mediterranean themed food. Feta cheese, humus, that kind of thing. The gumbo I had was a strange Filipino pork-blood sauce dish. But the fried chicken wings with blue-cheese dressing were music to my lips.

Prices are about $5 per 10oz or $7 per 20oz glass of the craft-brews. Food starts at about $7 per entrée.

This place is a strong B+

Very friendly place in Guam which is mostly a good-beer wasteland. Talked with the owner, brewmaster and all of the waiters who offered lots of good information and free samples.

Pub made brews on tap were pale ale, IPA, Irish Red and Oatmeal stout. I tried all of the beers and the IPA and Stout were excellent. Also on tap: Bud Light and Coors.
Many bottles available such as Rogue Chocolate Stout and Shaespeare Stout.

Good food, too. Lots of Greek options but I had the basic cheeseburger which was very good, and fairly priced.

Highly recommended. An oasis of good beer in the desert of Guam!

This is my favorite bar in Guam. First off it is the only establishment that brews their own beer on the island, their selection varies, but they usually have an IPA, pale ale, oatmeal stout, and a honey rye on tap of their own. They also carry a selection of bottles including: Rogue, Samuel Smiths, Moylans, and a few other imports, the reason I rated their selection so high is because this is a outstading selection compared to other places in Guam. The food here is very good, they have your typical bar food, like burgers and wings, but they also have some pretty good Greek style food as well. The Atmosphere here is awesome, it's pretty laid back compared to the other places on the Island and on Friday and Saturday night they have live music that is usually pretty good. If you are ever in Guam and frustrated that you cannot find a decent brew or are looking for a good bite to eat I would definitely recommend this place to anybody. Hands down this is the best place in Guam to get a good beer!
