This malt forward amber ale is lightly hopped and easy drinking. Sweeter than most amber ales due to the addition of Columbia County maple syrup.

On tap at Dinosaur BBQ in Troy, NY.
This pours a clear darkish amber, with a small head and no lacing.
This has so much sugary sweet maple on the nose- that's really all I get.
The maple character on this is actually a bit fatiguing. It feels artificial, almost like Aunt Jemima's syrup, rather than true maple. It's sugary, and there's nothing really else to speak of. The base is buried underneath the maple.
This is medium bodied, maybe a bit thin, with a sugary diabetes inducing mouthfeel.
This wasn't that good. Not recommended.

I really want to give this a *5* but one thing keeps me from doing so. If this was just a TOUCH sweeter (ie. a bit more maple syrup) it would be PERFECT. I love this beer in all honesty, one of my all time favorites. It is super unique and very flavorful. I never seem to be able to get my hands on any, the last few brew fests I went to - Chatham did not offer this one for samples. I wonder if it is due to the high cost of the maple syrup in the recipe? Nevertheless, if you ever get a chance to try this it is amazing and a true rarity - maple beer is far and few. The color is just that - of pure maple syrup - and the syrup definitely gives it a soft smooth consistency. One whiff of this concoction and you know it is the real deal, pure maple goodness!
