This is a very unique stout. I've never encountered blackberry brandy or the spent barrels from it. I've also never encountered such a fruit forward beer that didn't have actual fruit added. It's pretty wild. Not going to be everyone's jam, and I'm not sure it's mine, but if a blackberry jam stout sounds like your dream come true then this is it
Beautiful deep brown beer with little to no head but a persistent rim of bubbles.
Nose is an insanely strong blueberry jam with a boozy edge. One of the fruitiest aromas I've ever encountered in a beer with no added fruit.
Taste carries the blackberry through but with more of the sour/tart aspect. Below that there's a choclatey stout note and a roasty and boozy base. Interesting and nice but very odd. Might really appeal to some, hits a little odd for me.
Mouthfeel is thin. Not watery but has a definite thin/liquor type feel.
