Tasted by a half pint at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield, on 21/05/07. Served by a handpump w/ a sparkler.
A: dark yellowish straw in colour with great clarity, coming with a very frothy white head with brilliant retention, on top of low carbonation.
S: a very light floral+citric aroma of mixed hops sits on top of a grainy-malty note, constantly skirted with a salty-sweet edge; very simple and soothing, but somehow a slightly weird, artificial fruit-candy-ish sweetness also stays behind.
T: lubricating floral flavours of hops are followed by a mouthful of lychee-fruits, grapefruits, flowery bitterness and spritzy zestiness... the bitterness seems to deepen and linger down the palate.
M&D: this is a quality Blond Bitter, benefiting a good input of fruitiness as well as bitterness of hops, while the bitter undernote makes an esp. impressive finishing touch.
