Turm Bräu “Pils”
€2,20/,25cl at the brewery on 20.09.2021

Look: Hazy golden body beneath a full head of bright white foam. Excellent head retention that leaves rings of wide, craggy lace behind with each sip.
Smell: Clearly Pilsner malt. Lightly sweetish with subtle spicy hops.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma. It’s mildly spicy and herbal. A stiff bitterness runs through it, and it finishes dry, and short lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied with a natural, fine-bubbled, standard carbonation.
Overall: A charming, pleasant, and easy to drink Pilsner done in the southern German style.

This little Hausbrauerei(brewpub) is nestled up in the small town of Freudenstadt located in the Schwarzwald.. I recently visited it and was very happy with the Bier as well as the food. Three Biers were on tap and they were having an “American Night”. Pretty funny to see actually. They had more American Flags than a George Bush Press Conference. Overkill would be an understatement. Anyways I would recommend the town and Hausbrauerei. On to my first Bier…

I started off with what was to be the best Bier of the day. An unfiltered Pils that was very good for a Hausbrauerei. I’m not a big fan of unfiltered Pils but this one is very good. It pours up a very thick creamy head. Its trüb(cloudy) and very a very light straw. Very bright Hops great the nose with slight spicy and herbal tones. This backed up by a little sulfur, bready yeast and a solid malt backbone. The Bier starts bitter and finishes pretty quick a mild bitterness. In the middle you’ll find a well rounded Bier with a mild hop/ malt balance and a crisp yeast flavor. That’s as in depth as I can get considering I was sitting at a table in a restaurant. I would love to try this Bier filtered. The yeast is the only thing that takes away from this Bier. Personal tastes tell no yeast in my Pils! Very nice Pils!

Zum Wohl!!!
