Turm Bräu “Weizen”
€2,20/,25cl at the brewery on 20.09.2021
Look: Hazy deep golden body beneath a full head of dense, bright white foam. The head retention is excellent and it leaves plenty of fine lacing as it goes.
Smell: Sweetish wheaty malt with moderate phenolics of banana and clove.
Taste: As the flavor suggests, the sweetish wheaty malt is really the main component with minor notes of banana and clove. The bitterness is low but enough to balance it, and it finishes short and mainly dry.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp, but not quite as effervescent as it could be.
Overall: A more restrained (in terms of yeast character) but pleasant and highly drinkable Weizen.

This little Hausbrauerei(brewpub) is nestled up in the small town of Freudenstadt located in the Schwarzwald.. I recently visited it and was very happy with the Bier as well as the food. Three Biers were on tap and they were having an American Night. Pretty funny to see actually. They had more American Flags than a George Bush Press Conference. Overkill would be an understatement. Anyways I would recommend the town and Hausbrauerei. On to my second Bier
Next up was the Weißbier. Unfortunately it did not live up to the previous offering. The head was as creamy as whipped cream the color was deep straw and trüb(cloudy). The aroma was malty sweet and backed up by clove and fruitiness. The flavor was too much on the sweet side but very nice otherwise. It featured crisp yeast and nice malt tones and was a bit spicy. The major flaw in this Bier was the fact that it was well under carbonated. In Deutschland this isnt acceptable for a Weißbier! Ill knocking points for this as well as being a bit boring after a wonderful Pils.
