09/11/10- Had this one on-tap at Jackie O's barrel-aged release party.
A: Copper orange with a very thin film.
S: Faint, bourbon, sweet alcohol, strawberries, banana, mild and fruity.
T: Smooth dry malt with bourbon, sweet dry malt extract, sort of one-dimensional.
M: Syrupy with a very tame carbonation.
D: Pretty easy to drink.

From the brewery's website: "A very rich, intensely malty beer that may have hints of caramel, dried fruit, toffee, dark toast, along with nutty and bread-like qualities. It has a noticeable alcohol presence in both flavor and aroma. Hops play only a supporting role in this beer and it is malty sweet from start to finish. It's almost a year old now so it ought to be getting good!"

Presentation: Arrived in a shaker pint glass. Served very cold.

Appearance: 3/4 inch of light tan head settles to a thin but complete coating of foam leaving behind nearly complete lacing coverage. The beer itself is the color of copper with a slight haze. Or as my son put it, "looks like maple syrup."

Smell: Slightly sweet honey aroma.

Taste: Very sweet caramel malt upfront with hints of cherries and strawberries. Mild bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Average carbonation level. Body is great.

Drinkability: Pretty good. The sweetness can get to you, but I think it is important to remember that this has been aged for a year. Not sure of the ABV, but maybe a smaller serving would be more appropriate.
