Hirtshals 11/10 2020. 50 cl bottle from Spar, Magrethevej, Hirtshals. Burgundy version of Skagen Bryghus with the 16 pronged star on red background.
Pours slightly unclear, dark amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Settles as a 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet, malty, lightly roasted odor. Dark sweet malts. Light tart berries and bit of citrus.
Medium carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish and lingers for a bit. Semi-dry finish.
A bit bland Dark Lager

Slightly hazy dark amber to brown and darker than I had expected. Smelled sweet and nutty and got a little bit of yeastiness in there as well, so much more going on than I've smelled in others within the style. Very clean tasting. Again sweet and nutty, a bit of fruitiness to it and roasted goodness. Very small smooth bubbles which make for excellent carbonation and fantastic mouthfeel. Really refreshing and tasty, one I could have many times during the day.

The colour is deep brown-red. The two fingers high off white head leave some lacing. The liquid is a little hazy (the beer is bottle conditioned).
The fresh smell got notes of nutty malt, chocolate, fruits and a dry bitterness.
The taste is fruity and lightly roasted. I found notes of dark rye bread, some porridge oats and barley flour. There is enough of bitterness to balance the sweetness of the malt. The aftertaste got notes of dark rum, roasted nuts and hints of wax/paraffin, bitter hops, dried fruits and butter.
The carbonation is robust; medium sized bubbles. The liquid is smooth.
I liked this one as it got lots of character without getting unbalanced or hard to drink. I tried it paired with a not too spicy Jambalaya, and they suited each other good.
The name is old Danish for "sea foam". The brewery web site points out that this beer is especially popular among the ladies.
