Served in a bottle at Tørst in Brooklyn, NY

A: Pours an opaque jet black in color with hints of dark crimson red highlight and minimal amounts of gentle visible carbonation. The beer has a quarter finger tall sudsy tan head made up of large bubbles and reduces to a medium sized thick patch and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed

S: Moderate aromas of lightly roasted dark malts and anise/licorice.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark malts and lightly roasted malts. There are some light flavors of anise/licorice and dark fruits, though without a lot of associated sweetness. Light to moderate amounts of bitterness which linger.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Tastes like a slightly thinner and more bitter version of a Russian Imperial Stout with rather well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable but definitely a sipping beer.

Bottle at Tørst, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is essentially jet black in color—slight traces of amber are visible near the edge of the glass. It poured with a collar of large dark tan bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with light bits of licorice.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell and also has some hints of roasted malts.
M: It feels a bit shy of medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes more like a lighter version of a Russian Imperial Stout and seems to be much more flavorful compared to other porters.
