“Promises Kept” is the honourable followup to “Promises Made” and the completion of our two part collaboration with Patrick Schou (the great hair and man behind Pleasanti Street).
Unlike its previously released partner, “Promises Kept” has spent the last year and a half resting in French Armagnac barrels; soaking in the flavours of the wood, residual spirits and time. It is a dark, smooth, modern barleywine, with flavours of dried figs, caramel, spirit, licorice, burnt sugar, and oak with a slightly smoky finish.

Copenhagen 21/3 2024. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. A canine skull partly hidden in dry grass on the label.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Bubbly. Disappears fair fast leaving only a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass behind.
Aroma is intense with a sugary sweet odor mingling with alcohol, wood and a bit of licorice. Leather, alcohol soaked wood, toffee, brown sugar. Wholesome.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed y a distinct, medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Finish is rather dry.
Well balanced with a finish on the bitter side. Fine Barley Wine.
