Fanø Bryghus’s “Single Hop Series” is a continuing series of ales brewed to showcase the aromatic and flavor profiles of individual hop varieties. Brewed as either a Pale Ale or a NEIPA style, each recipe uses a single hop variety, in this way the beer drinker has an opportunity to develop a clearer understanding of the unique properties that each hop variety possesses and even how to recognize those flavors in more complex recipes.

Mosaic®: Released in 2012 by the Hop Breeding Company, LLC, Mosaic hops feature complex but clean flavor characteristics and are known for their triple-use profile encompassing bittering, flavor and aroma. They have high alpha acids but low cohumulone which makes them pleasantly hoppy, carrying flavors of mango, pine, citrus and herbs and aromas of tropical and stone fruit.

Mosaic is the first daughter of Simcoe and Nugget as has been humorously referred to by some as “Citra on steroids”.

Copenhagen 4/4 2022. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Simple orange and red label with big hop flowers. It is Fanø’s Single Hop series after all.

Pours opaque hazy golden yellow with a huge white head. Settles as 2 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet odor of tropical fruits mingling with tart, citric scent. Peach and mango. Citrus and lemon. Slightly acerbic.

Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick oily, lively and tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a bit thin. Lingers shortly. Finish is dry but a bit watery.

Nice and dry - and fairly uncomplicated.
