Our “Danish Imperial Series” is an ever expanding series of imperial strength beers, each honoring a different individual from Denmark’s long imperial history. “Margaret of Denmark” is a Scotch Ale brewed in honor of Christian the first’s daughter Margaret. Known for her beauty and intelligence, Margaret reigned as Queen of Scotland from 1469 to 1486. This beer showcases a complex sweetness including notes of brown sugar, candied fruits, toffee and caramel that are complimented by light hints of roasted malt and low hop bitterness.

Copenhagen 27/3 2022. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Frb. F. New edition with a frivolous Margaret the first with wild flying blonde hair.
Pours clear mahogany with red hue and a small offwhite head. Stable. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, malty and potent odor mingling with dark alcohol. Brown sugar, sweet biscuits and toffee. Salty streak. A bit of dark rum and alcohol.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, slightly viscous, greasy, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a lighter bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a notable sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is sweet toffee and alcohol.
Malty and boozy as it should be. I miss a little smoky, peaty streak.
