Fanø Bryghus’s “Single Hop Series” is a continuing series of ales brewed to showcase the aromatic and flavor profiles of individual hop varieties. Brewed as either a Pale Ale or a NEIPA style, each recipe uses a single hop variety, in this way the beer drinker has an opportunity to develop a clearer understanding of the unique properties that each hop variety possesses and even how to recognise those flavors in more complex recipes.
Dr Rudi: Originally known as SuperAlpha, the variety was renamed to Dr Rudi in 2012. It was bred from New Zealand Smooth Cone and is largely grown in New Zealand. It was originally released in 1976.

Copenhagen 18/3 2022. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Fanø's usual design for their Single Hop Series in a dark purple with golden hops.
Pours slightly unclear, golden amber with a small white head. settles ad thin, patchy layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, odor of pale malts, peach and pineapple mingling with citrus fruit. Citrus and lemon with a dry vibe.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, greas, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger, citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a light sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Brings out Doctor Rudis dry charm. In a simple one-dimensional way.
